永津会 in NY 勉強会を開催させていただきました。

弊社のコンサルタントもしてくださっている永津洋之先生を中心に、5名の経営者の皆様がご参加されました。

弊社からは河崎、花岡、潮平が参加し、皆様の経営体験発表を通して経営の厳しさなどを共に学ばさせていただきました。

今回は、稲盛和夫氏が説かれる
「創意工夫とは、昨日よりも今日はより良い仕事を、さらに明日は、今日よりも一歩向上した仕事をするということです。どんなにつまらない仕事のように見えても、どのように改善できるかを、創造的に考えるのです。」
という言葉をもとに、ファシリテーター・潮平須賀で行いました。

社員それぞれが、一年後に成長した自分になるためには、日々の仕事の中でどのような創意工夫をしたら良いか、深く考えることができました。

お陰様で、2004年からスタートした弊社のインターン卒業生が、累計100名を超えました。インターン制度を始めた頃は、慣れないこともあり社内で戸惑いもありましたが、何よりも一番うれしいのは、卒業生たちが気軽に遊びに来て近況報告をしてくれる時です。

今後は、Katsu New York Academyとして受入体制のレベルを上げ、引き続き世界中のやる気のある若者たちを受け入れていく所存です。
そして、NYという世界の中心地でのインターンをすることによって、プロとしての現場意識を感じていただき、また我々も学んでいる稲盛経営フィロソフィーと弊社経営理念を通し、一人でも多くの卒業生が「人間として正しい事」を基準に物事を判断できる人間に育っていってくれればと願っています。

We have been having 100 interns from all over the world, since we started an internship program in 2008.
And we are always so happy to see them when they visit us after their graduation from the program.

We have been having monthly seminar since August 2004.
We use Dr. Inamori's material, such as "PASSION FOR SUCCESS" and "Kyocera Philosophy".


第108回、月例フィロソフィー社内勉強会「成功するまであきらめない」

2004年8月より毎月継続的に行っている、完全全員参加での社内勉強会およびコンパも、
今回で108回目になりました。
今回はNEVER GIVE UPというテーマで、ファシリテーター・花岡千賀子のもと、行いました。
このテーマは既に8回目になりますが、毎回深堀りが出来ており、特に幹部スタッフのフィロソフィー浸透度も、やっと知識レベルから見識レベルに入り始めました。

日本語での学びもさることながら、ここニューヨークで英語での社内勉強会は、
お客様との意識合わせ、当社の姿勢を表現する際に大いに役立っております。

The KNY Academy, a new intern Jules Kiratzis from Pennsylvania, US

Jules joined us as an intern from September for 4 months!
He is a student at State College Pennsylvania. And his major is supply chain and logistics.

Why do you want to work at KNY?: I want to work at Katsu New York because it is a great opportunity and I will learn a lot about business by working with it hands on in the real world.

What is your goal for internship?: My goal for this internship is to get a better understanding of the supply chain and financial aspect of the business.

What is you goal in 3 years?: My goal in 3 years is to be finishing up college at Penn State University.

Nanten-sensei's visit to Jhane Barnes Studio

Energy Design社、なんてん先生、立見社長、立見恵莉佳さんに
New York, Westchester Waccabucにある、Jhane Barnes Design Studioを訪問していただきました。

Jhane Barnes社とKatsu New Yorkのコラボで、人間の健康科学をベースに新たなカーペットの共同開発を始めております。
ハイレベルで全く異次元の健康環境素材が、近い将来、世の中に普及し始めることになります。

良縁起会パーティーでは、ビリー・ジョエルのバンドマスターでありサクソフォーン奏者のMark Riveraと、奥様であられるSandraも参加いただき、素晴らしい磁場を創出していただけました。
とてつもない機会に大感謝です。


Nanten-sensei, Mr. Tatemi and Ms. Tatemi visited Jhane Barnes Design Studio in Waccabuc, New York to explore the big collaboration to develop totally new carpet by using human health science.

This new concept would heal people's energy based on quantum mechanics.
During the kick off party, we could have Mark Rivera, who is the band master of Billy Joel for last 32 years, and his wife Sandra.

It was very special moment for all of us.

いつの日か、稲盛氏とオフィスのバーカウンターでワインを飲ませていただける機会がありますようにと、ずっと願っておりましたが、3年でその願望が叶いました。

Energy Design Techstyle by Nanten Sensei

We welcomed Nanten sensei who is a creative director and a scientist,
and Mr. Tatemi who is a president of Energy Design.

We also welcomed Masami who is a student of Nanten sensei,
and Erika who used to be our intern to join our meetings.

The Energy Design was established to create products for human's health based on quantum physics.
We had very nice and meaningful meetings with designers.

The KNY Academy, a new intern Yusuke Saito from Japan

Yusuke joined us as an intern in September for 6 months. He is a senior at Waseda University, Japan, and is absent from the university to join this internship. His major is English Literature and Linguistics, but this is his first visiting to the US.

Why do you want to work at KNY?: It is because I love fashion and I was attracted to the entrepreneurship of our president, Katsu. I have doubts about the future of Japanese economy, so I want to learn from Katsu how to do business at foreign markets and how to be a global leader.

What is your goal for internship?: My goal is to make what I want to do in the future clear, and to get our new business, Katsu Kafe, on track. I think this period will be a great step to my future.

What is your goal in 3 years?: As I mentioned above, I cannot see what I will do in the future clearly. However, in any case, I want to obtain a job where I can contribute to the development and conservation of Japanese high quality manufacturing.

この9月から6ヶ月間、インターンとしてYusukeが加わります。彼は早稲田大学に在学中で、このインターンに参加するために休学しています。専攻は英文学・英語学ですが、実はこれが初のアメリカ滞在だそうです。

なぜKNYで働こうと思ったんですか？: ファッションが好きなのと、社長であるKatsuさんの起業家精神に惹かれたからです。私は日本経済の未来に疑問を感じていて、海外市場でのビジネスやグローバル・リーダーになるノウハウをKatsuさんから学びたいと思っています。

このインターンでのあなたの目標は何ですか？: 自分が将来何をしたいのかを明確にすること、そして新規事業であるKatsu Kafeを軌道に乗せることです。この6ヶ月は私の将来にとって大きなステップになると思います。

3年先までの目標は何ですか？: 先にも述べたように、私は自分が将来何をしているのか青写真が描けていません。しかし、いずれにせよ日本の高品質なモノづくりの発展・保全に貢献していけるような仕事に就きたいと考えています。

MRC大学講演会 in 静岡・A speech at MRC college

静岡県掛川市で開催されたMRC大学セミナーで、「多国籍市場NYでの挑戦／26年間の歩み」をテーマに講演をさせて頂きました。

MRC大学は、尊敬する戸田直員様が主催される中小企業経営者向けセミナーで、毎月1回全国からゲストスピーカーを招いて講演会・勉強会を開催されています。

108名の参加者の真剣な眼差し、また講演会後の質疑応答での鋭い質問に、改めて気を引き締め直しました。

このような機会を与えて頂き、感謝申し上げます。

本当にありがとうございました。

Katsu was invited to make a speech at College of Management Rich Club in Shizuoka, Japan.

108 people joined the speech and Katsu was so impressed by their passion toward self improvement.

After the speech, he had a chance to meet participants and discuss the global business.

今回のテーマは「断捨離」

やましたひでこ様のご著書をベースに、
断捨離とはただの片付け術ではなく、モノへの執着を捨て身の回りを綺麗にすることで、
本当に必要なモノ、本当に価値があるモノが浮かび上がり、
そこから心の中のストレスを解放することができ、意識の断捨離を行うことができました。

We studied about "Dan Sha Ri", based on the book by Hideko Yamashita.

"Dan Sha Ri" is "De-clutter (refuse - throw away - separate)"
Doing Dan Sha Ri, we cannot only clean our room but also clean our mind.

The KNY Academy, a new intern Gigi Cobos from Ecuador

Gigi joined us as an intern in August for 3 months. She was born in New York but her family and culture are from Ecuador. So, she grew up in Ecuador and graduated as a fashion designer from Azuay University there. Her hometown, Cuenca, is the third largest city in Ecuador, and listed as UNESCO World Heritage Trust.

Why do you want to work at KNY: I am passionate about textiles and the company model of KNY with a strong philosophy based on the wellness of customers and employees, which approaches a lot to the model business I would like to carry on in the future in Ecuador, so I have a lot to learn in here.

What is your goal for this internship: To learn about the structure or model of a textiles company, and how does business from other culture take place in different markets.

What is your goal in 3 years: To learn more about sustainable management with a MSC in Sustainable Management and Environmental Policies, and to collaborate with companies with different focus and points of view, by that way I could begin a prototype of my own business.

The Intern of Katsu NY, Yena Lee from Korea

Yena joined us as an intern in August for 3 months. She graduated from Koomin University with Management Information System degree. Please check about Yena. Hope she will learn a lot from us.

I was born in Seoul, Korea and now live in Pangyo where is a new town near Seoul. I am a participant in Korea WEST, which is an international exchange program of the U.S. and South Korean governments. I studied English in San Diego for 4 months before coming to New York. And It has been 8 months since I came to New York.

Why do you want to work at KNY: When I looked for internship, I saw KNY wants people to see their philosophy on the website before applying for the internship. When I first saw the philosophy, the first thing that comes to my mind was how KNY people put all their effort on their company's success. Under their philosophy, I thought this is the only company that i can widen my horizons and improve myself by working. Also, In order to have a job in fashion industry in the future, I need to learn practical experience in business and see how fashion business works. Assisting with the sales team at KNY can let me understand our business well.

What is your goal for internship: Firstly, I want to know how Katsu New york operates and how their philosophy affects their business. Also, even if I am working here as an intern, I want to be blended with the KNY family. I want to interact with them and share our thoughts. Thus, I hope i could completely understand the whole process of fashion company at the end of my internship.

What is your goal in 3 years: Because I already graduated university before I came to the U.S, I would like to have a stable job in fashion industry with my internship experience. For the next couple or three years, I will be working and gaining experience. But because I am enjoying working in the U.S. now,especially working with many international people who are from different countries, I would find a way to work in the U.S. fashion market after I go back to Korea.
