The KNY Academy A New Intern Hiroki Shimada from Nishiwaki, Japan

Why do you want to work at KNY
I came to KNY from Nishiwaki city to revive Banshu Ori.
Actually KNY sells many Japanese textile and they have way of thinking that I can not understand when I live in Nishiwaki city.
In addition, KNY is very enthusiastic in human education, I think that I can grow as a human being.

What is your goal for this internship:
I would like to be able to judge that it is not only appeal point and improvements point of Nishiwaki city but also demand from outside.
It is possible by watching Nishiwaki, other production areas and other countries from KNY.

What is your goal 3 years:
I bring back that I learned in KNY for Nishiwaki city and want to aim at the globalization of Banshu Ori.

Movie "The Miracle of the gifted quarter" / 1/4

We watched the movie “ The Miracle of the Gifted Quarter ~Life’s Truth Revealed~” produced by Fumiko Irie during Nagatsu Camp. This file is produced mainly through interviews with Kakko chan, Katsuko Yamamoto who is a teacher at a special needs school. 35th Appreciation Party / 感謝会

A huge thanks to all of our customers and vendors that attended our 35th appreciation party! Team Okinawa brought “TROPICAL STORM” from Okinawa, the southern island of Japan into that freezing night in NYC warming our heart’s and belly’s.
Ms. Ryoko Zukeran, owner and chef of Can Color in Tokyo created an authentic menu of traditional Okinawan Foods from scratch, which she spent 3 days to prepare. Everything was so delicious therefore they were gone quickly! If you miss them, please visit Ryoko’s restaurant in Tokyo ;)
We were also pleased to introduce Orion Beer (Okinawan Local Beer), Amabuki, Tengumai and Nanbu Bijin (Japanese Sakes) and Zuisen (Okinawan Local Shochu) which were donated by Orion Breweries, Ltd. Sake Discoveries LLC and Zuisen Distillery Co., Ltd. Thank you very much for your kind donations.
While Mr. Masaru Shimabukuro of Begin, Ms. Kanako Horiuchi, Okinawan Folksong Singer were entertaining us with Okinawan & Japanese music, Eiten was painting in harmony, inspired by their music.
Mr. Mark Rivera who has been bandmaster for Billy Joel for 32 years also joined them and played “New York State of Mind” at the end. We were all blessed by their collaboration.

We cannot express our appreciation enough to everyone.
Again, thank you so much from bottom of our hearts.

Looking forward to having everyone back in Summer 2015.

Studied about the Importance of Perfection based on "Fundamental of Management" by Mr. Inamori

”Fundamental of Management” is the protection for creating criminal in the company.

Perfection generates reliable relationship by caring for teammates and the profit will chase after because of domestic stress free.
In order to increase the profit, naturally double checking each other for more accurate one to one matching.
Once accurately matching every single thing, whole team cares the profit flow and the company becomes muscular without unnecessary waste.

F.I.T seminar "Global Sourcing in the textile industries"

This morning from 9:30-11:30am, we held the seminar “Global Sourcing in the Textile Industries” for the students at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
For the first half of the seminar, Yoshi gave an overview of who we are at Katsu New York. He was then followed by Chikako and Hikari, who explained the business flow of how our fabrics are made into garments.
For the latter half of the seminar, we had Ms. Paola de Marco of Source4Style speak. She gave a presentation on what Source4Style is and how their showroom is the next generation of textile sourcing.
All of the students were very attentive and involved, and we hope they learned a lot from this seminar! We’d like to thank Ms. Akiko Inui, lecturer at FIT, for introducing us to these wonderful students who are the future of our industry.
