Intern Appreciation Brunch and Welcome Gigi's father

We had an intern appreciation brunch to appreciate our support team.
We also held the graduation party for Jules and Gigi who are graduating from KNY Academy.
Jules and Gigi had been working with us for 3 months and we really appreciate their devotion to KNY.
We wish Jules and Gigi for the best!
After the brunch, we welcomed Mr. Cobos, Gigi’s father.
We had a good time with him.

常日頃、KNYをサポートしてくださるインターンへの感謝を込めて、Intern Appreciatation Brunch とKNY  Academy を卒業するJules とGigiの卒業祝いを開催しました。
今後、Gigiは弊社のパートタイムとして活躍してくれます。
Julesは、若干１８歳と社内最年少ながらも、しっかりと日々の業務をこなしてくれて、彼の仕事に対する姿勢に我々も多くのことを学び、また非常に感銘を受けました。
ブランチの後には、Gigiのお父様がオフィスにお越し下さいました。
ワインを片手に、楽しいひと時を過ごさせて頂きました。

当社社員である和泉 妃果里（ひかり）のお父様、Hiromichiさんが当社オフィスにお越し下さいました。

お父様にとってニューヨークにいらっしゃるのは今回が初めてだったそうです。

終業後には、お父様を囲んでカクテルパーティーを行いました。

HikariのKNYでの成長具合にとても驚かれていました。

F.I.T seminar "Global Sourcing in the textile industries"

This morning from 9:30-11:30am, we held the seminar “Global Sourcing in the Textile Industries” for the students at the Fashion Institute of Technology. 

For the first half of the seminar, Yoshi gave an overview of who we are at Katsu New York. He was then followed by Chikako and Hikari, who explained the business flow of how our fabrics are made into garments. 

For the latter half of the seminar, we had Ms. Paola de Marco of Source4Style speak. She gave a presentation on what Source4Style is and how their showroom is the next generation of textile sourcing.

All of the students were very attentive and involved, and we hope they learned a lot from this seminar! We’d like to thank Ms. Akiko Inui, lecturer at FIT, for introducing us to these wonderful students who are the future of our industry.

F.I.T(ファッション工科大学)で教壇にたっておられる乾　亜紀子氏のご紹介で、F.I.Tの学生の皆様を迎えて「テキスタイル流通のしくみ」についてセミナーを行いました。

まずはじめに、弊社の事業内容と一連のビジネスの流れについて講義し、その後Source4Style社のPaola De Marco 氏が、Source4Style のビジネス形態について講義しました。皆、真剣な眼差しで講義に聴き入り、その後の質疑応答も活発に行われました。

創業２７年目にして、このような機会が増えてまいりました。社会貢献の一環として,
一つ一つ真摯に取り組んで参りたいと思います。

東北コットンプロジェクト、大水綾子様の真善美／Ms. Ayako Ohmizu's SynZenBe Spirit for Tohoku Cotton Project

かすりデザイナー、大水綾子様の東北コットンプロジェクトの新聞記事です。
真善美、そのものの生き方をされておられる大水さんは我らの誇りです。

"Cotton into the dream sky"
Our friend, Ms. Ayako Ohmizu, a Kasuri designer, who just completed handwoven, kasuri textile product (3,000 warp & 8,000 weft thread) for Tohoku Tsunami victims to pray for good departure based on SynZenBe, which are, TRUTH, GOODNESS and BEAUTY.

古庄藍染處訪問／Yoshi's Visit to Furusho Indigo Dyeing Factory

Yoshi visited Furusho Indigo dyeing factory in Tokushima, Japan in October.
Mr. Furusho is a natural indigo hand-dyeing master.
He was chosen as a contemporary master craftsman by Japanese Ministry of Health, labour and Welfare.
Also, he is a Tokushima prefectural living treasure. He has been dyeing our indigo scarves.


明治時代から続く、紺屋古庄６代目、古庄紀治氏の工場を訪問させて頂きました。
化学染料を一切使用せず、天然藍を使いの素晴らしい作品と技を見せて頂きました。
古庄氏は、厚生労働大臣により「現代の名工」を授章され、徳島県の無形文化財保持者です。
有り難うございました。

新居製藍所訪問／Yoshi's Visit to Nii-Seiaisho

Yoshi visited Nii-Seiaisho in Tokkushima, Japan in October.
Mr. Nii is a master of producing a fermented indigo leaves, called Sukumo for natural indigo dyeing (Aizome).
We have been using his Sukumo for dyeing scarves, and promoting it.
His Sukumo produces the most beautiful deep Japanese indigo blue.


徳島県にあります、新居製藍所に訪問させていただきました。
新居氏は6代目の藍師で本藍染の染料になります、藍を発酵させた蒅（すくも）を
生産されています。
人工的に作られたインディゴとは違い、種まきからおよそ300日かけて作られる日本ならではの深みのある藍色を見せてくれます。
有り難うございました。

Welcoming Ministry of Commerce of Royal Thai Government

We welcomed Mr. Susomboon (Executive Director), Ms. Anekamai (Deputy Director), and Ms. Sasiwannapong (Senior Trade Officer) from Department of International Trade Promotion.

We made a presentation for Source4Style Thai Pavilion to promote Thai Silk.

We hope we can launch Thai Pavilion to help local vendors in Thailand.

本日、タイ国商務省NY事務所から Mr. Susomboon (Executive Director)、Ms. Anekamai (Deputy Director)、Ms. Sasiwannapong (Senior Trade Officer)にお越し頂けました。

ジャパン・パビリオンに続き、来年度にはタイ・パビリオンが開設できそうです。

FIT Japanese Seminar

We held a seminar for students and graduates from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) on November 12th.

Chikako and Yoshi made a speech there.
The topics were "Why KNY exists?" and "Why we need to care sustainable products (organic cotton, NPO product)?".
The attendees were so serious and carefully listening to the speech.
Also, they asked a lot of questions in Q&A time.

After the seminar, we had a cocktail party at our office.
There were some professional people in fashion industry,
and we could exchange opinions about sustainability or business in NY.

We believe we should hold this kind of events more often,
so that we could return our knowledge or experiences back to society.

11月12日、弊社オフィスにてFIT（ニューヨーク州立ファッション工科大学）の日本人学生及びOGOBを対象としたセミナーを開催しました。

弊社社員の花岡、浅見が登壇させていただき、
「Katsu New Yorkの存在意義」「持続可能な製品（オーガニックコットン、NPO製品）について」といったテーマについてお話させていただきました。
参加された皆様がこちらの話に真剣に耳を傾け、熱心にご質問なさるご様子に、
私たちも大いに刺激を受けました。

また、セミナー後にはオフィス内でカクテル・パーティーを開きました。
参加者された方の中には、ファッション業界で既にご活躍なさっている方々もいらっしゃり、持続可能な製品やこの業界でのビジネスについて意見を交換させていただくことができました。

このセミナーを通し、私たちはこういった機会をより多く設けることで、
知識や経験を社会へと還元することができるのではないかと感じました。

本日、兵庫県西脇市市長 片山象三氏、秘書広報課主査 藤原あかり氏、島田製織（株） 島田由紀子氏、島田啓希氏にご来社いただきました。
西脇市で開発された新商品のご紹介と、市として取り組んでおられるプロジェクトなどをご説明くださいました。
弊社からもSource4Style Japan Pavilionの概要を説明させていただきました。

片山市長は、発明家として第一回物作り日本大賞 内閣総理大臣賞を受賞された方でもあられます。

非常に厳しいスケジュールの中、貴重なお時間を割いてご訪問いただき心より感謝申し上げます。


We welcomed Mayor Katayama, Ms, Fujiwara, Ms. Shimada and Mr. Shimada.

Mayor Katayama introduced us their new creation and some ongoing projects in Nishiwaki city.

We also explained Source4Style Japan Pavilion, and he was very excited about this project.

Mayor Katayama is not only a mayor, but also an inventor.

He was awarded the best innovation product in 2009.

セミナー内では、浅見佳伸が当社概要およびオーガニックコットンの生産について説明させていただきました。

盛和塾中国塾生、総勢14名の方々をお迎えしての合同勉強会を盛和塾ニューヨークが開催しました。
大変光栄なことに、呉安鳴先生と共に河崎も経営体験発表をさせていただくことができました。
その後の交流会では、言葉や国境を越えた塾生同士の交流を行うことができ、とても有意義な時間を過ごしました。

また翌日、呉安鳴先生のご要望もあり、急遽当社にお越しいただく機会を頂戴しました。
曹先生、呉先生に多くのアドバイスをいただけました。
呉安鳴先生の一番大切にされているお言葉が「真善美」であられることを教えていただき、いたく感銘を受けました。
そして盛和塾中国代表、曹先生とご一緒させていただくことができ、心より感謝申し上げます。

Katsu was selected to make a speech among Ms. Wu Anming and Mr. Koki Saito.
After the speech, we had a welcome cocktail and enjoyed talking to each others.

10/18, next day of the speech, all members visited our office.
Everyone enjoyed our view and we shared our philosophy "SynZenBe/真善美" with Ms. Wu.
